Baby Faye

This post is for our sweet little girl.  It's been a rough day for us.  We went through all of our Baby Faye stuff.  You know, that box we took home but quietly put in the corner of the basement and haven't dared to touch.  Well, inside we found some pretty amazing things.  There was a whole dvd of pictures that we had never seen.  Pictures the amazing people at Helen DeVos knew to take because someday, when we were ready, we'd like to see them.

You forget how small and fragile these babies were.  They let us bathe her before getting all dressed up.  I think she had Carl's mouth.

We only have a few pictures of Faye while she was still alive and doing well.  Carl was great about taking pictures.

There she is.  Our perfect little girl, just a bit too small.  Til we meet again someday!

Matthew 19:13-14

Let the Children Come to Me

13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

Hanging out at home

Brian and I have been best friends the last few weeks.  He's been a little bit sick so his favorite place in the world is attached to me in some way.  Not even his Johnny Jump Up or his jumpy play yard thing will do the trick.  Sweet boy will cry crocodile tears and then throw up if I don't get him quick enough.  But that's OK.  He's sweet as can be and the happiest thing in his Bjorn.

We had physical therapy last week and they did a 6 month reassessment.  Good news - Brian is measuring right on track for a "normal" 7 month old baby!  There are three parts to the test, Brian scored at 7 months for one, 5 months for another (the motor developmental part, think picking up cheerios, sitting for >60 seconds, reaching for a toy more than a foot away) and 8 months in the reflex part.  So the average was right around 7!  We still need to work on some of those motor skills but we are very happy with how well he is doing.  Crazy to believe that the next big steps are crawling/walking!

Dad's are so silly.  But he was having so much fun!  I need to go dust the top of my fridge now.

I've been sewing A TON since we've been home.  I've made baby bedding for two of my friends and have been sewing to get ready for our craft show in T- 4 weeks.  Rachel and I are a little bit in panic mode about that.  Let's hope we have enough stuff! (and that the stuff we make sells...)

This is my sewing partner and Joanns shopping buddy.

So, I kept hearing that Brian is the spitting image of Carl.  I looked up baby pictures!!  Carl is bottom left and I'm bottom right.  I think there's a little bit of me mixed up in there.  :)

I also found this gem.  My mom's so pretty.  And I love the pleated shorts! ;)

Brian's girlfriend Juliet came over for dinner the other night.  We all decided to be good parents and bring our kids to the park.  You know, to make them have fun.  Not too sure it was that big of a hit! But at least we tried.

We also did a little photo shoot once we got back.  The babies loved the air conditioning!  It was a total coincidence that they coordinated outfits.  In the bottom picture you can see Brian's two teeth!

Those babies have come a long way from this picture!

Sweet sleepy baby!

We are coming up on the year birthday for all these babies.  We're planning on celebrating with my family up at the lake over Labor Day weekend.  Brian and Charlotte are going to eat some delicious cupcakes and hopefully get some funny pictures.  I still cannot believe a year has almost gone by.  We will have to see how these next few weeks go!

Travel Bug

Our little family has been all over the MidWest the last few weeks.  We've driven to Minnesota and back then up to Michigan again.  It's busy but SO worth it.  Our little man is the best little traveler.

During the drive we took turns sitting in the back.  He's happy as can be when someone is by him!  We read books, ate prunes and played with some new toys.

In between trips we went to the hospital again for another swallow study.  This one was much more fun! He is still looking great and we got to try straws, cups and baby puffs.  He has two little teeth now so we are able to introduce more different types of food!

Stinker...

Our trip to Michigan was just wonderful.  Brian and I spent a whole week at my parents.  We spent an afternoon at Rachel's house trying to get our GingerCrafts show stuff all ready.  But we got distracted by super cute babies.  Charlotte loves Brian.  Hugs and snuggles him all the time!

Or smothers him and uses his body to sit up :)  They are going to be best friends.

My parents were super nice and watched Brian for a night so that all the sisters and their husbands could go out for dinner.  We picked Saugatuck so it was a little closer drive for Carl to meet up with us.  The night was just beautiful.  We had dinner at a bar by the river and then hiked some crazy tall stairs so we could run down a sand dune.  The sunset on the other side was totally worth it.  And we are very out of shape!

I love all these people.

Auntie Gracie, Uncle John, my cousins Erika and Stacy (and Stacy's adorable girls) all came up from Missori to visit while we were there.  We kayaked, swam, boated and ate too much.  It was perfect!

They're so sporty.

Brian turned 11 months at the lake!! Cutest picture ever.

This is my husband.  He's a bit ridiculous. The neighbors had their Beer Olympics when we were there.  It includes a giant slip n slide, flippy cup, this crazy blender and a lot of very fun people.  I had bruises the next day...  Here's a video of that blender!

We did smores and lanterns at night.  This place is heaven for little kids.  I can't wait to see Brian get to grow up here!  And Maddie is the sweetest girl ever.  Brian loved her.

My little man is growing up!  He went for his first ride in a grocery cart and loved it.  He was talking and kicking his feet the whole time! We are now back in Peoria and plan to be here for almost a month.  Our little family is looking forward to it!  Brian always seems to sleep and eat better when he has a more consistent schedule.  We're going to try and fatten him up a little bit before his birthday party with Charlotte.  :)

We just love him to pieces.

And some videos!  A few are a little long...
